Q1. How did your career journey start? Or Who/What inspired you to start this business/ entrepreneurship?

I started my firm Mint Leaf Designs in 2005. After working for several years and having designed my parent’s first home, I felt confident to accept offers that were coming my way. All true artists are entrepreneurs by belief as you can’t work for another person’s vision forever. Collaborations or self-design are the two options.

Q2. Kindly share some information about your Business, products and services here.

Mint Leaf Designs is a full-service Interior Designing consultancy firm. We design and execute Residences, offices, commercial spaces, wellness, medical and pharmaceutical spaces.

Q3. What kind of challenges did you face while starting/doing business & How did you overcome these challenges?

Initially the adjustment of working in Mumbai was challenging as I had worked in the United States, where the system was very different. Convincing clients of the costs and being very brutally open about it was the initial difficulty, which over time and experience, I have learned to handle and has been one of my drawing powers. I believe if you talk about the “uncomfortable” issues in the beginning, then the rest of the journey is the smoothest one you will experience.

Q4. What are your views on Marketing?

Very essential in today’s digital media age. Since our industry doesn’t have too much Nepotism, hence old-fashion marketing is the only way to go.

Q5. What are the core values you believe in entrepreneurship?

Talent, unique individuality along with sheer grit, you can survive in this industry

Q6. What are your future plans? Or now what is your vision for the next five years?

I definitely want to work in PAN INDIA as my expertise is definitely required outside Mumbai.

I am aggressively networking PAN India so that I can collaborate and work with city specific local consultants/contractors and local materials/vendors.
This adds to my Value and it doesn’t make hiring me, a Mumbai designer, expensive for out of station projects.

Q7. Do share with our readers about your personal and professional skills?

I am a trained pianist from UK's largest music education body -14 years.

I taught Commercial Interior Design as a visiting faculty at a Reputed Institution - 12 years.

I am trained to design projects that require merging of technical knowledge with art.

I am a very good cook.

Q8. How would you advise/suggest new entrepreneurs who want to start & sustain in business?

Get the necessary qualification. Work for at least 2 years before starting on your own. Have or find a mentor. Travel at every opportunity you get. Never give up and listen to your inner voice.
